Joke’s on us…they’ve re-recorded three songs from the Warner albums.
The stage production for the tour sounds intriguing. I saw the SP reunion tour a few years ago and the production was amazing.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
I remember another interview where Perry said the stage production budget was the same for both bands. Might be the most interesting stage production since Jubilee.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:33 pm“…we recorded three songs with him.”someguy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:06 pmSome more insight… https://www.nme.com/news/music/perry-f ... an-3302568

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Didn't Eric say they had four promising new song ideas? Do we know whether these are additional to the three they've already recorded, i.e. 7 songs?Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:33 pm“…we recorded three songs with him.”someguy wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:06 pmSome more insight… https://www.nme.com/news/music/perry-f ... an-3302568

Probably best to take all statements with a pinch of salt
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Actually surprised no one mentioned them yet, but The Afghan Whigs. Reunited in 2013 and have delivered three excellent albums since. Their latest is getting rave reviews and they also still put on a hell of show. Dulli may be a bit older but he lost none of presence and charisma.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
You are right, I can’t believe that I didn’t mention them as well…. Been a fan since the 90s, and this run has been spectacular. Each album has been better than the last, and the shows are always great. They choose a good intersection of old/new material, never rely too hard on the old songs. They are perfect. Honestly, they are my dark horse, favorite band of that era, and Dulli, certainly the best songwriter. And they are only adding to it. Even with a different lineup, all their integrity is in place…. The new album is once again, amazing.Easton wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 11:54 pmActually surprised no one mentioned them yet, but The Afghan Whigs. Garbage announced an appearance on Oct 22 in LA, the same day that Jane's plays in Pittsburgh:

Are you posting this because Eric used to play in garbage? I'm confused.parklife03 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:42 amGarbage announced an appearance on Oct 22 in LA, the same day that Jane's plays in Pittsburgh:

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Im guessing they will use their original bass player Daniel Schuman, who ironically plays with Perkins in a cover band.Hokahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:48 amAre you posting this because Eric used to play in garbage? Yes. A session player can be there, but Eric was with Garbage live almost non-stop from 2005. I thought he was going to do both thingsHokahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:48 amAre you posting this because Eric used to play in garbage? Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Interesting that Garbage has been opening for Alanis as of late. Eric not playing with either of them should’ve been our first clue.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
I'm fairly certain he is not played with them much over the past however many years. I remember seeing that garbage was coming through St Louis a few years ago and looking to see if Eric had been playing with them and he had not.parklife03 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 1:27 pmYes. But Eric played all the 2022 concerts from Garbage. And from these posts of the last month, he's still with them too. There are not Jane's officially informed dates apart from the SP's ones, so...Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 1:41 pmInteresting that Garbage has been opening for Alanis as of late. Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Me either.... just another layer I guess, the speculation has been slow, for the past few days.... I'm sure it doesn't really make a difference who plays the bass in Garbage, does it? A band like that, it could be anyone, right?Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:24 pmMy bad…not a band I pay attention to.parklife03 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:09 pm

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
It will be another bass player. That band has toured for stretches without Butch Vig and one of the guitar players since 2012. They don’t need to rely on a touring member to play shows. Plus the Garbage account has been liking Janes content here and there
I just realized Eric has/had been with Garbage for a solid decade straight- that’s crazy

Yes. I saw them live, and they rely a lot on him (sound-wise speaking). It was almost like seeing Garbage's Addiction, as you could actually *hear* Jane's presence there. He adds his own signature sound to the band, in contrast to the typical "touring members" of some groups.someguy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 3:54 pmIt will be another bass player. Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Agreed. I saw him twice with them and even though they have him in back he has his own presence. Never understood why opted to be a touring musician when he more to offer.parklife03 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:43 pmYes. I saw them live, and they rely a lot on him (sound-wise speaking). Also side note- are there still plans for your book to be translated?
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
He was there last August when I went. It was like $10 tickets and I was so sick of not doing anything b/c of Covid I went mainly for Garbage. Skipped Cat Power, and stayed for most of Alanis.Hokahey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 2:05 pmI'm fairly certain he is not played with them much over the past however many years. He was at the recent shows I’ve checked out online, it’s always neat to see him, I just don’t think that that band is here or there, with or without him. They’re probably nice people, and it’s a sweet gig, but it’s Garbage, at the end of the day, that radio band, I’m sure they’ll be fine. And for us, probably nothing to worry about, I would guess…

Only in Spanish for the short/mid term. I'm writing another book for 2023 (investigative journalism this time, not music related). So let's see. The Smashing Pumpkins announced something for Sept 19. Maybe a single before the tour?
