UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
I think Dave needs to publicly say something about his status with the band and the upcoming tour: is he in or out?
It's been almost 2 years that he's been experiencing "long Covid". The fans aren't owed a detailed explanation of what he's been going through, but some assurance - imo- needs to be given that he's going to be part of the tour since that's what the tour advertising suggests.
And, how much longer are the rest of the guys going to wait on Dave? Not trying to sound cold, but at this point there has to be a firm commitment of being in or out. Perry is going to be 65 next year. He's no spring chicken; with so many musicians of his vintage croaking lately, I don't think there's time to spare!

I think you're talking about Arik Marshall, who played Lolla '92 with them after John originally bailed. His wikipedia is barren for the past decade.
I also looked up Jesse Tobias and apparently he's currently playing with Morrissey. lol

Got my ticket for Madchester
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
See you there. Grabbed a couple for Manchester and a single for Monday night Roundhouse. At the mo, I’m not free for that but got it on the off-chance. Haven’t seen them, or been remotely interested in seeing them, since Nothings Shocking run-through shows. Maybe 10 years ago??

Hope to see you at Roundhouse - I managed to get a ticket for both nights.Japhy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:54 amSee you there. This is nuts....they seem to be selling out! Glasgow is sold out....within minutes. London tickets seem to be scarce. Seats are sold out via Roundhouse and TM was showing both nights as being sold out, but now low availability. Barrowland is small, so I get that, maybe, but two nights at Roundhouse seemed ambitious to me, so this just bizarre.
Shoving Dave on the promo seems to have paid off. Literally.

Got my ticket for Glasgow.
It’s at the Barrowlands which is a truly great venue. Annoyingly enough, Jane’s played the Barrowlands on the Ritual tour. I only knew Been Caught Stealing at the time and they weren’t particularly on my radar, but on the day of the gig a friend had a spare ticket and offered it to me and to my eternal regret I passed. All of about a couple of weeks later I got a copy of Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual and was absolutely blown away and thought it’s a shame I didn’t go to that gig but I’ll see them next tour. Which turned out to be 2002.
I’ve seen them I think five times or so over the years but never in the Barrowlands. I’m looking forward to it.

Yes, weird ... there are more Janes fans than I thought.phenobarb_bambalam wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:10 amHope to see you at Roundhouse - I managed to get a ticket for both nights.Japhy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:54 amSee you there. Managed to grab tix for both Roundhouse dates.
Be good to bump into you guys after all these years, I'm sure I still owe Japhy a beer after the NS show in Brixton.

Could be that Dave is back and this will be the last time we'll see them in the UK.

Haha. But surely they would know which guitarist will be playing? So why not show a poster with Josh or whoever? Unless it's for nostalgia.
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
The dates couldn’t have been much more inconvenient for me due to work but I’ve got a ticket for second Uk show, one gif Luxembourg and 3 for Italy (taking the kids).
I’m tempted to add cologne and maybe Paris!
Pretty effin financially irresponsible of me but fuck it!
Just please don’t cancel guys!
Also, Josh or Dave please!

Might go to Cologne as well.dannyboy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 7:03 amThe dates couldn’t have been much more inconvenient for me due to work but I’ve got a ticket for second Uk show, one gif Luxembourg and 3 for Italy (taking the kids).

But djees, 70 € for a ticket? Maybe I've not been going to a lot of shows recently, but still seems steep to me. Don't know if I want to spend that money/go through the trouble of getting to Cologne on a weekday if Dave is not in the band. Certainly since I'll be seeing them at the Werchter festival a week later.
It's like going to a Led Zep show without Jimmy Page
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
It sells tickets. If it isn't Dave then I'm sure he'll make an announcement shortly before the tour... probably something about ongoing health issues etc.Bandit72 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 5:22 amHaha. Got tickets for the roundhouse - can't wait. Hope Davo's there.
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
Yea, London was £70 vs Manchester at £45… ridiculous difference. Thankfully only wanted one London! Can’t wait to meet up with a few people at both of those shows.Mescal wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 7:26 amMight go to Cologne as well.

Now got an 8 day run that will be King Gizzard, Janes, King Gizzard, Janes. Epic, almost as good as my recent 3 Dino Jr shows in 4 nights!
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
It is the roundhouse though. Always sounds great.. can always see wherever you stand. Great venueJaphy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 8:20 amYea, London was £70 vs Manchester at £45… ridiculous difference. Man flights to Europe in the Summer are super pricey. Eyeing the Dublin show. I think it's an outside venue. Round trip for 2 from NJ is over $3k. Any rumors of US dates?
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
I have no inside info but there will 100% be US dates. I’d guess in the fall. Porno is done after this. It’s all Janes from here.
Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
If they push US dates to 2025 I’d be cool with that- i hope they can set aside enough time to finish the album- that way they can set up a touring cycle with a cool summer tour

Re: UK/European Tour ‘24…with Dave
Not that you asked.....but the venue is big and impersonal. Kraftwerk and Madness played there last summer (Madness are doing arenas and headlining festivals at the moment, for context). The UK venues are much better, FWIW. Roundhouse is lovely.
As for flights - I go home (the UK) from the US 3-4 times a year and have a good handle on prices. Flights from EWR should be dirt cheap - less than $1k, unless you're sitting uo front on the plane. The issue is booking 6 months in advance - the whole pricing model for flight prices as changed in recent years, which you probably know. 6 months out - prices are high, but they will go down. Am guessing around February may be the best time to book flights for these. I won't be getting mine until then.

Honestly if Dave isn't there, you guys will probably be better off.
The show I saw with Troy and Josh was the best Jane's show I had seen since Jubilee back in 2001.
They just bring that dirty garage band vibe back to their sound. It's what Jane's should be.
