I don't think it’s out of the realm to wonder about reissues or remasters if WB is involved

They just did a huge Mr Bungle box of vinyl reissues

Jane’s has a way bigger audience.

Finally I’m getting excited again

Perry couldn’t get around to approving artwork for a single very few people would listen to, and even fewer would see the art for.

True…

But maybe I’m hopeful Perry feels love from WB and enjoys the money he’ll be making ?

But I get your point

I don’t meant to be a Debbie downer. I just have a very “believe it when I see it” mentality with these guys.

Oh man. I honestly don’t give much of a fuck beyond - I want good new music and to enjoy the show. I got both (in fact way beyond my expectations on both counts!) during the Porno run. Feeling good - new music next week and show with L&R in San Diego in a few weeks. It’s all good.

Cabinet Of Curiosity was a crazy object for very few people.

I doubt there will be any official release of any old live show, but this tour may deserve one.

Hate to say it.. but the chorus clip sounds horrible. Can I hear a female backing harmony too .. like say .. uh Etty?

Just to add to that. I think the live version is really great. We'll find out next week - Here's hoping it rawks !!

To me, the chorus has always been the weakest part of the song. Probably no coincidence that when I hear a snippet I somehow end up with Irresistible Force in my head.

I expect certain sections to sound Janes-y based on the live performances, but I think this is just the kind of music Perry makes at this point. If Eric is behind it, I suppose it must be of some kind of quality. We’ll know soon enough!

I don’t think it’s Etty, but probably some kind of auto-harmony plugin.

To me the chorus snippet has a soaring Ritual quality to it. I just really feel like this song is conceptual in a way anything Strays and TGEA couldn’t do. It’s like the song itself is rotating and the bass line is a loop de loop. The bass line also feels really good to my ears like the way mountain song does

Also there’s no way Tory or Josh could add to this song like Dave did. So far it’s Jane’s to me and it’s about damn time

Ya’ll are crazy — the chorus is great!

I love the new snippet seems to have Perry going high now too.

It’s still weirs to hear the band with TONS of layers on a song, but in Eric I trust

A couple of things...

1) It's probably best to reserve judgment until we've heard the entire song. And even then, if we get an album...the song within the context of an album can shift things.

2) Jane's (original lineup) has shot themselves in both legs by committing the mortal sin of not releasing new music for a whopping 34 years. Under such conditions, it's pretty much impossible to fulfill expectations and is bound to disappoint. If their new material sounds too much like something from NS or Ritual, they'll be accused of mimicking the past and not evolving...while if it deviates too much from the sound of the band back in the day, people will say it sounds nothing like the old material/band and doesn't fit with the band's original vision or catalogue.

I'm not prepared to love it or hate it. I'm just going in with the mindset that it's just a song and not the second coming.

Yeah, we can’t expect them to sound like 34 years ago.

They’ve only had 34 years to prepare and Perry has only had “3 albums worth of material ready to go” for like 7 years.

Drink a glass of scotch, turn the echo on 1000, and be fucking weird.

How hard is this? Seriously.

Am I wrong?

I’m totally cool with bands maturing but… save the maturing for the 2-3 acoustic numbers you add.

If you wanna be a rock band, be a fucking rock band.

A good redemption after 34 years of silence and so many annoucements of itons of new music ready over the years would be a double LP, don't you think so ?

What ? Nobody would bet a penny on it ? Neither do I obviously but, hey, just plug the instruments and play.

This is what rock'n'roll is all about.

I like the snippet, just wish it will end up in something really consistant.

How hard is it? Given the number of artists who’ve made shit music in their latter years, my guess is that it’s very difficult.

In all seriousness though, even if the band is writing great music on the level of their old material, we have to contend with music production in 2024 being DRAMATICALLY different than it was in the late 80s and early 90s. There’s some great music now that being pretty much ruined by today’s approach to music production.

Given all the twists and turns we’ve experienced with this band, I am ready to meet them where they are now creatively, not where they were.

In my minds IR is a huge win live and in studio. It’s a cool new Jane’s Addiction song that leans into the best of what the four of them do together. Remember - we’ve heard stuff like “Another Soulmate”. I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed on Wednesday.

I remember listening to the isolated vocals of chip away and whores from ‘09 on the NIN website. Trent understood the assignment and just cranked the delay/echo to 100 on the vocals.

Perry works with his echo doohickey thing live all the time while drinking dobel or whatever- he has to be doing something like this on at least one of the songs they’re working on… unless their producer is running interference

I think Dave went back to playing Ibanez back then, too.

Little things make huge differences in their sound for sure.

I’m wondering what time on Wednesday that we will get this. :noclue:
