This song is good. It is has a vibe. Imminent Redemption was pretty creditable as a resurrection rocker but I would be truly interested in a gothy shadowy Jane’s LP that leant into mood and texture - and had lyrics from an authentically mature perspective - even if they were wistful and backward looking (which is how I read this song). That would be a true path forward for an old band looking to do something new.

Anyway I guess it is academic now.

Interesting - I wonder what his contribution is/was. So much of it sounds like Dave coming in and doing his own thing over what was started.

It’s a semi interesting instrumental (although Dave’s solo at 1:15 sounds like Def Leppard) but the vocals and lyrics are the painfully awful modern Perry. The whole thing just makes me bored and sleepy.

Imminent Redemption auto played right after, and I can’t get in to that either. The music in verse sounds kind of cool, but Perry sounds like he has the past 20 years. And then the chorus, while catchy, sounds like something off of Strays. Dave can’t help but play rocking licks!

I’m honestly surprised Eric was ok with these being “Janes Addiction” songs considering his insistence everything be so perfect and pure.

I don't understand why a band whose songs were mostly created out of jams, one riff grooves, single chords, and tinkering in a garage now insists on "writing" songs. As in, properly coming up with parts, following the formulaic structures of verse-chorus-verse-middle eight bridge-final chorus. All to eager to fit in the traditionally accepted way. It doesn't work for them. Never has. Why don't they see it?
