So... What's next?
So... What's next?
I guess I'm not the only one to notice that the passions have died down a little. Now we're back to this semi comatose state that's been the default state for my Jane's fandom since the 2011 tour.
What do you think comes next for Jane's and when?
My prediction: Jane's never does anything together ever again. The label releases some hodge podge horse shit best of album with two or three new tracks.
The three non-Perry members show up here and there, playing odd gigs and guest parts on other artists' albums.
Perry disappears from the stage entirely with a backstory of wanting to focus more on family.
Juana's Addiccion, RIP.

I’d bet this is all pretty accurate.op wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 8:17 amI guess I'm not the only one to notice that the passions have died down a little. Now we're back to this semi comatose state that's been the default state for my Jane's fandom since the 2011 tour.

Although, I also wouldn’t be surprised to see the other 3 do a one off album with guest vocalists or something. I also can’t see Perry completely shunning the spotlight of the stage. I can also see him doing his Heaven After Dark crap with Etty and an assortment of hired guns to poorly sing Jane Says from time to time.
Re: So... What's next?
Guarantee almost a month out Perry still feels entitled and justified doing what he did.
He won’t be swayed otherwise until his band members (who did their jobs) grovel at his feet. Maybe another song comes out this month if it was already scheduled but that might be all there is at this point

Re: So... What's next?
Dave will go back to painting and occasionally doing those tribute shows for MAP. Probably dust off his radio show to give himself something to do. Get married to Vanessa.
Eric, having now been inspired to be writing music again, will do another solo album. The entire thing will be about the dissolution and re-establishing of friendships.
Perk will continue his tour of drum clinics around the Guitar Centers of America.
Perry will lay low for about 9 months, then pop back up with a new EP of EDM. All duets with Etty. And he’ll “break his silence about the breakup of Jane’s Addiction” in a sit down interview with Spin magazine to promote it. He’ll book a residency at some small club in Hollywood. Bman will go.

Re: So... What's next?
sadly I'm already over it.
Re: So... What's next?
I think Perry will feel the need to go out on a high note.
I think the other three will feel bad that Jane’s ended on such a sour note and will want to put that right in some way. Could be new music without any shows or just a couple of small LA shows playing the classics, La Cita style.
Eventually I expect to see them playing together again but not any time soon.
Perry needs to reconcile with Casey and commission her to do the cover art for a new Jane’s album/best of.

Re: So... What's next?
Janes as a touring, functioning band is permanently done, imo. Dave, Eric and Perk might do something together but aside from Switzerland Perkins who gets along with everybody, I can't see the other two guys wanting to go through this shit for a 3rd time with Perry. The fact *any* iteration of Jane's Addiction would have to do a shit-ton of rebuilding after all the work they invested in the last couple years at this point in their lives just seems impossible.elbuitre wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 2:20 pmI think Perry will feel the need to go out on a high note.

The window's closed.
Re: So... What's next?
It’s incredible Perry has burned bridges with all the Jane’s bassists with the exception of Flea. I guess he wanted to move onto guitar players… Josh and Troy beware

Re: So... What's next?
I think WB probably does a release with the new songs and — I’m not even sure what’s left to release
Label will want them to finish the album they were making
I can see a scenario where whatever was being worked on gets finished off in some weird way and they release it as a goodbye album.
Money is a huge motivator …
I won’t be surprised if the three guys do something, album of rotating vocalists or whatever —they are too talented
Perry… baring some massive change in his life/apology to band etc — it’s hard to se him doing anything of interest
Maybe he produces Ettys album ?
Hes so lazy that a solo album seems impossible anyway — I suspect he’ll do a mea culpa interview and simply be a Lolla figurehead

Re: So... What's next?
I can't imagine Perry going back to his Petty/Kind Heaven stuff as if nothing happened. All this was promoting love, smile and partying (ie non-angry feelings he cannot embody anymore)
He might produce, but he probably won't show up on stage anymore.

Re: So... What's next?
This.
For outside observers Perry's outburst, filmed from multiple angles for the whole world to see is first and foremost a destruction of his supposedly enlightened elder persona that he's been trying to sell for the past 2 decades. Now he's no longer weird and idiosyncratic, he's a demented bully.
Re: So... What's next?
I completely forgot that he left Satellite Party acrimoniously. And I believe it was for all the same bullshit.
Re: So... What's next?
Wasn’t because Perry cropped out everyone on the cover art except for him and Etty? I legitimately think that’s what happened but not sureHokahey wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 4:56 amI completely forgot that he left Satellite Party acrimoniously. And I believe it was for all the same bullshit.
Re: So... What's next?
I don't think anything is next for JA. Other than if they have contractual obligations to release an album, I don't see a return to live shows.
As others have suggested, unless Perry makes a public statement to apologize and claim that he's been getting treatment/medical attention. IF he really does have a mental health condition, then he should include that in his public statement. I think that's the only way he could go back on stage. Didn't the dude from Creed do that after his public meltdown? And now they are touring again.
Other than that, I predict a Nip/Tuck return and Perry and Etty have recurring roles.

“I have always felt uncomfortable with the direction of the lineup and live show.”
He didn’t want to play Jane’s Addiction karaoke with Ettie Farrell.
