An open letter to Jane's Addiction: you've come too far to turn back now.

Good article. Salient point here imo:
if what’s broken was never fixed to begin with, then that broken-ness never stopped this band from creating great art. And if there’s any inspiration left in Jane’s Addiction’s tired old bones, then it’s only right that the inspiration should see the light of day. Why not?
TLDR: they should release/finish the music they’ve been working on

They won’t. And I guarantee the album isn’t “almost complete.”

They should, but they won't. Does Perry even recall 9/13?

Probably more "almost" than "complete"...

By the way, I don't believe a word of what these guys say in interview and i do believe we are making the issue bigger than it is..

I disagree. What are you basing that belief on?

Come on, nobudy has been hurt. Perry wore some wild eyes and made a silly move.
He was exhausted (kind of), because of drugs, hurting throat, lack of dancers...
He got frustrated and lost his temper.
That's all.
He did not stab anyone with a knife or rape a sound engineer.
There is no crime here, just a heat stroke.

He punched Dave in the face backstage, after (he AND his wife) behaving like complete jackass most of the tour because the band wouldn’t let his Etty on stage.

I’ve been wrong about these guys and a million other things before, but this was the last big chance with each other and as a professional act.

Perry already promised to do better. And then did the same exact shit again.

If there were millions of dollars at stake I bet they could have figured out a way to make it work.

With just an OK selling tour and with the way they travel and the crew they employ I doubt this was a big money maker. Love and Rockets probably isn't cheap either.

I don't blame them for deciding it's not worth it.

If Perry got what he wanted would this have been avoided entirely, and they could move forward with new music?

Or was he just not doing anything regardless and the band went “why would you push for this when you’ve been MIA”

I want to think it’s the latter because it’s just so bizarre how quickly it devolved

I think it's Perry's substance abuse/mental health and petulance that has caused this. Someone whose mind was right wouldn't have done what he did. His actions affected a lot of people.

Been consistently lurking since Eric rejoined. I was at the Atlantic City show and Jane's was really great! The best show I saw live from them dating back to 2001.

At AC, Perry talked about being horny and pissed off. Etty was still over in Europe at that time. I feel like this whole situation blew up when Etty got back to the US for the New York show. I bet she started yapping in Perry's ear as she was she returned, about her unhappiness due to not being included in the show. Perry can't tell her to shut the fuck up and back off because Etty has basically had him neutered. I bet his substance abuse is to numb himself, to get by day to day and zone out from Etty's BS and it boiled over in NYC and Boston. I am still sad that that their recent success has been squandered. :banghead:

I doubt there’s any finished tracks. True Love certainly didn’t feel like one.

I trust that if what they’ve got is worth listening to, the non-Perrys will do something with it, whether in different projects or sneakily released as demos on YouTube or whatever.
