Hurricane Helene Check-in
Hurricane Helene Check-in
Just wanted to reach out that I hope all of our folks here on the East Coast are as ok as can be with Hurricane Helene effects?
It skirted us at the last minute, which I'm incredibly grateful for, but the folks that did get hit......oh, man.
We have some friends in Asheville, NC, that we still have no clue yet whether they're ok or not....

Yeah, it looks like a doozy of a storm with many lives lost.
So much water being dumped....
Was thinking you might be in that area with FSU.
Glad to hear you dodged it.

Luckily Asheville friends were able to get word out, a little after me posting, that they're safe.
The devastation from the storm surges is so intense.

Re: Hurricane Helene Check-in
I have such a terrible memory. I can never remember who anyone is or where they post from.
But yeah, hope everyone is doing as well as they can be.

Gulf side of Florida is going to get a direct hit from Hurricane Milton Wednesday. It will have much more of a catastrophic impact to Florida than Helene did for a number of reasons. The hurricane is more compact but much more intense and will be pushing a very large storm surge directly into densely populated areas like Tampa Bay. Also the general area on the gulf side of Florida features much lower land elevation. Already, it jumped from a Category 1 to Category 5 in just over a day with a very small eye and may break the record for lowest pressure of any Gulf Hurricane.

Holy shit, I did not see that it had already strengthen into a five. I used to live right outside Tampa. Always felt pretty safe there from the worst of any hurricanes.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 10:04 amGulf side of Florida is going to get a direct hit from Hurricane Milton Wednesday. I remember I was vacationing in the panhandle when hurricane Michael was forming four or five years ago. As we were heading down, they were saying it would likely not get stronger than a tropical storm or a category one at worst. I figured we would ride that out if necessary. Two days later, it was a category five and we were under a mandatory evacuation. Crazy how quickly these storms are strengthening these days.

warm water....hope it somehow pushes north of Tampa...
Re: Hurricane Helene Check-in
Clickie, did you do ok with the hurricane?
Re: Hurricane Helene Check-in
Just pushing this up again. Has anyone heard from Clickie post-hurricane?
I'd hoped he'd pipe up during start of NBA season.
Hope he made it through the storms ok.
